“He listened. He felt inside been underrated previously. He didn’t push any pelvic or vaginal exams, as he said he feels I have been through too much trauma, and the body remember everything. He said based in what I had told him, he will investigate whilst I was under GA if I preferred. I really appreciated that. What could have been better

“What stood out most about your consultation? What stood out most was that David genuinely acknowledged my ongoing chronic pain and clearly communicated that it was not acceptable for me to be living this way. He expressed a strong commitment to doing everything he could to help. He explained his approach to deep excision surgery in a thorough and reassuring way, emphasising his intention to remove as much disease as possible rather than leaving anything behind. ⸻ How did the surgeon communicate with you? Overall, his communication was very good. He explained things clearly and demonstrated strong knowledge and confidence in his approach. At times, his thoughts moved quickly and he could jump between ideas, but this felt more reflective of an active, highly engaged mind rather than a lack of clarity. Importantly, he showed a high level of empathy, care, and awareness—particularly around women experiencing pain and trauma. This was especially evident during discussions about examination, where he was mindful not to push for a pelvic exam, recognising my history and the likelihood of discomfort. I deeply appreciated that level of sensitivity and respect. ⸻ How did you feel about the outcome of your care? In terms of care, support, and advocacy, he went above and beyond. He explored multiple avenues to support my condition, including collaboration and referrals to other specialists such as bowel surgeons, urologists, and pelvic floor physiotherapists, as well as discussions around options like Botox. While I do still experience chronic pelvic pain, I do not attribute this to a lack of care or effort on his part. I feel he did everything within his scope to support me. ⸻ Would you describe your experience as positive, mixed, or negative? Why? I would describe my experience as both positive and mixed. It was positive in terms of the level of care, compassion, and professionalism I received. However, it is also mixed because, despite these efforts, I have not achieved the outcome I had hoped for in terms of pain resolution. ⸻ If you had multiple surgeries, how did this experience compare? Compared to my previous experience with a gynaecologist, where I underwent ablation, the difference was significant. My prior care felt very procedural, with minimal aftercare and support. In contrast, this experience was approached as a major surgery, with a much higher level of care, consideration, and follow-up. ⸻ What would you most want another woman with endometriosis to know before seeing this surgeon? I would want other women to know that he is a genuinely caring and dedicated surgeon who will do everything he can to help. He is not hesitant to perform deep excision surgery and appears confident and skilled in his work. I felt that I was treated with respect, compassion, and thoroughness, and that any woman in his care would be supported to a very high standard. — Patient 2 — I knew I had endometriosis for years before I got help. After 3 kids it was time to do something about it. I searched online and found positive reviews for Dr Kowalski and upon meeting him could instantly see why. He is kind and caring and professional and so knowledgeable. I have full faith in his surgical skills and would highly recommend him to anyone.”
